Great question, complicated answer
It all started in the 1980s when a young lady known as Traci Lords decided to begin her career in the adult film industry at the age of 15, and the now defunked adult film studio she contracted with neglected to check her age documentation carefully enough.
What does that have to do with pictures on our web site you may ask ?
Enter the US Federal government
The Fed, who is DEEPLY concerned with the welfare of our youth (Semi Sarcasm) enacted the Child Protection and Obscenity Enforcement Act of 1988.(aka 18 US code 2257)
This law mandates that webmasters and film makes retain the ID of any and all persons who appear in “explicit”(which has NEVER been defined) photos or video which can be “publicly” (also undefined) viewed
Long story short, the people who produce the ads have done that, but i don’t have nor am I inclined to ask you for all your IDs. (If these has ever been any doubt as to someone being of age, we have checked it out)
Please don’t get me wrong, I am neither anti Government or against the protection of children and I don’t mean to sound as if i am.
In my seldom humble opinion however this law is overkill, implies consenting adults have no judgement, is anti 1st amendment, and was swatting a fly with a sledge hammer. Regardless, we are bound by it. (This concludes my political ranting)
The good news is, consenting adults can join the password protected member screened private pics group (see GROUPS on the menu tab) and post pretty much whatever you like within the bounds of legality and good taste)
Hope this over explanation clears that up
